SWID Vocational Training School

About the School

The SWID Vocational Training School was established by the Society for the Welfare of the Intellectually Disabled (SWID Bangladesh) to provide vocational education and life skills training for students with Neurodevelopmental Disorders (NDD) who are above the age of 18.

In accordance with the Integrated Education Policy on Disability approved by the Government of Bangladesh, the initiative was taken to increase participation of students with disabilities in vocational and employment-oriented activities.

The proposal to establish the SWID Vocational Training School was discussed and approved at the SWID Management Committee Meeting on 17 April 2022, and the final approval was granted at the NEC Meeting on 14 May 2022.

The school focuses on equipping students with practical skills, independence, and employment opportunities so they can become active and productive members of society.


Goals and Objectives

The main objectives of the SWID Vocational Training School include:

  • Providing vocational and technical education and training

  • Developing pre-employment skills

  • Teaching daily living skills and practical life training

  • Providing socialization and communication training

  • Encouraging participation in sports and cultural activities

  • Offering therapeutic support services

  • Providing psychosocial guidance and counseling

  • Supporting mental and physical well-being

  • Practicing meditation and yoga for emotional balance

  • Providing basic computer training


Monitoring and supervisor

"The activities of the SWID Vocational Training School are regularly overseen by a seven-member Management Committee of SWID Bangladesh, which serves as the designated monitor and supervisor for the training center."


Training Activities

The school offers a wide range of vocational and skill development training programs, including:

  • Block and Batik Printing

  • Clay and Handicraft Work

  • Sewing and Tailoring Training

  • Paper Envelope and Packet Making

  • Computer Training

  • Baking (Cake, Biscuits, and Fast Food Preparation)

  • Screen Printing

  • Household Skills (Kitchen Work and Cleaning)

  • Beauty Parlor Training

  • Scouting Activities

  • Cultural Activities (Drawing, Dance, Music, Musical Instruments)

  • Office Assistant Skills and Workplace Preparation

These training programs aim to help students develop practical work skills and confidence, enabling them to participate in employment or self-employment opportunities.


Students and Trainers

  • Total Number of Students: 60 (Age 18+)

  • Total Number of Teachers and Training Assistants: 9

The school provides a supportive training environment where students receive individualized attention and practical training to help them develop independent living and employment skills.
